Matthew Dobler: A Politician Without the Credentials, and a Businessman Without the Business

Matthew Dobler wants you to believe he's a seasoned "Water Consultant" and a savvy businessman running his own firm, Dobler Strategies. But a closer look reveals a much different story—one of exaggeration, empty titles, and a history of failures.

Dobler Strategies: A Company in Name Only?

Dobler claims to operate Dobler Strategies, consulting for local politicians on their campaigns. However, a quick search through county records shows that no such company exists under his name. He doesn’t own any registered business called Dobler Strategies, nor does he have a business license for it. Is Dobler Strategies just a façade? If he’s running a legitimate business, why isn’t it properly registered? And if it isn’t registered, is he even paying taxes on it? The red flags are hard to ignore.

A Losing Track Record

As if the dubious business claims weren’t enough, Dobler’s consulting track record is nothing to brag about. He’s notorious for working with local politicians to raise money and manage campaigns, but his results tell a different story. Most of the candidates Dobler has consulted for have ended up losing, and those who did win often fired him before the campaign even reached critical stages. That’s right—Dobler’s guidance was so ineffective that candidates distanced themselves before the finish line. Is this the type of "expertise" we need on the Water Board?

All Talk, No Action

Dobler’s LinkedIn profile is filled with political roles, but it’s glaringly devoid of any real business experience or water-related expertise. He’s spent his career bouncing from one political campaign to another, never taking on the kind of roles that require tough decision-making, financial oversight, or the kind of accountability that comes with running an actual business. The Water Board needs someone who can scrutinize budgets, identify waste, and advocate for ratepayers—not another politician who’s only in it for the title.

Endorsed by the Architect of Rate Hikes

Matthew Dobler is endorsed by none other than Jack Ferguson, the former Water Board Director responsible for approving multiple rate increases. Ferguson’s support is telling—he backs Dobler because he knows Dobler will keep the status quo, with no interest in cutting costs or finding efficiencies within the district. As water rates continue to rise, do we really want another politician who’s ready to rubber-stamp higher costs without looking for solutions?

No Mention of Water Advocacy or Real Solutions

Despite his self-proclaimed title as a "Water Consultant," Dobler’s profile shows no involvement in water management, advocacy, or any relevant industry knowledge. It’s clear that Dobler isn’t here to fight for lower rates or better service; he’s here to keep the political machine running, at the expense of the community. He’s a career politician, not a problem-solver.

The Bottom Line: We Deserve Better

Matthew Dobler is trying to sell himself as something he’s not. His claims of business experience and consulting prowess don’t hold up under scrutiny, and his political track record is one of failure and missed opportunities. Our community deserves a Water Board member who brings real-world experience, a commitment to finding solutions, and the ability to make tough decisions—not another politician who’s more concerned with titles than results.

Dobler’s so-called expertise is nothing more than a political smokescreen. Let’s not be fooled by empty titles and questionable business claims. It’s time for leadership that’s accountable, experienced, and truly dedicated to making a difference for our community. Don't settle for another politician who can't deliver on his promises—demand a leader who can.
